Now, the age of "multimedia" has begun, and "video picture" has increased its utility value and impact significantly. The Himalaya Archive Japan (HAJ) will plan and implement activities making extensive use of video picture. The overarch concept of our activities is “Think of the Earth, From the Himalayas”, and The Himalaya Film Festival will remain as HAJ’s central activity.

* The Himalaya Film Festival Project
In collaboration with the Himalayas Archief Nederland, the Himalayas Archive Japan (HAJ) organized “The Himalaya Film Festival” in Amsterdam and Tokyo. The Himalaya Film Festival screened excellent documentary films of the world related to the Himalayan region and got a favorable reception.
The theme of the Himalaya Film Festival was “Thinking of the Earth, Thinking from the Himalayas”. We not only organized the Film Festival but also related events such as workshops on environmental issues, and music concerts. In 2006 we also organized a symposium in Tokyo where the issue of global climate change was discussed. It was broadcasted in NHK BS.
The Himalaya Film Festival is planned to be held in India, Nepal, Hungary and Canada. Environment and culture oriented projects by means of the video medium related to “the Himalayas” is gradually spreading worldwide.
