5. 'Himalaya Film Festival 2007' was held in Amsterdam ( As of March 10, 2007 )

4. 'Niigata International Film Festival' showed Himalaya-related documentaries(As of March 15, 2007)

The 17th 'Niigata International Film Festival' held from Feb. 17 to 25th screened the following four Himalayan films which were screened on Himalaya Film Festival Tokyo 2006: "Daughters of Everest"; "A Man Called Nomad"; "The Fatal Game"; "Bhedako Oon Jasto....in search of song.."

The films were shown for only one day but got more than 700-hundred people. The executive committee does hope to continue to screen Himalaya films next year.

Prior to the festival, an article about the Himalayas and Himalaya Film Festival written by Kunihiko Tanaka, the representative of the Himalaya Archief Nederland-Japan, was published in Niigata Nippo, the local newspaper.

2. The official site of ‘Himalaya Film Festival Project-Japan’ is established!
(As of August 18, 2007)

Himalaya Film Festival in Amsterdam was held from Feb.10 to 11, 2007.
About fifty-film including new films were screened. It was ended on a high note.

This official site is now started.  It will be a ‘ portal site’ for the Himalaya Film Festival Project, informing on the ‘Himalayan World.’ 

3. The official blog of ‘Himalaya Film Festival Project-Japan’ is started.

The official blog will inform you on various kinds of topics of the Himalayas!
(now Japanese only but English coming soon)

NEW!

1. ‘Himalaya Film Festival Tokyo 2008" is scheduled to be held in November!
(As of February 9, 2008)


Himalaya Film Festival is scheduled to be held in Tokyo again! The schedule is as follows:

* DATE: Oct. 31 - Nov. 3, 2008 (4 days)
* VENUE: National Olympics Memorial Youth Center (Yoyogi, Tokyo)

25 films are scheduled to be screened. In addition, the related events such as "a prestigious
Tibetan lama (rinpoche)'s lecture on "global warming issue" and the exhibition of a Tibetan artist(Tashi Norbu) are expected to be held.

The specific information will be provided successively on this site. Our film festival's success totally depends on people's supports, so any financial support will be very much appreciated.
